Up to four new fellows will be hired each year depending upon qualifications.
What is the start date for the fellowship?
All fellowships start on July 1st.
Is it a requirement to have an M.D. or a Ph.D. to apply?
This fellowship is designed to foster innovation. While an M.D. or a Ph.D. is preferred, candidates with any graduate degree may be considered if applicants demonstrate a commitment to advancing pediatric surgical and medical device innovation.
Is this fellowship a paid position?
For M.D. candidates, compensation will be at the level of PGY7 to 8 surgical trainees. For non-M.D. candidates compensation will commensurate with their education and experience.
Is the fellowship open only to U.S. citizens and those with permanent residency?
Non-U.S. citizens may apply, but their participation will be contingent on their ability to qualify for a visa.
Can I choose the projects that I will work on during this fellowship?
Fellows do have some influence on the projects they work on. To gain the full spectrum of knowledge about medical innovation, fellows will also contribute to several ongoing Institute projects during the course of the fellowship.
