A Message from Child Neurology Program Leadership
Welcome to Children’s National Hospital Child Neurology Residency!
Here at Children’s National we are very proud to be ranked as one of the top child neurology programs in the country, and we believe this is because of the outstanding faculty and residents we recruit to our program. Children’s National is unique in that we are located in our nation’s capital, one of the most diverse cities in this country, which attracts patients and staff from all around the world. By choosing to train at Children’s National, you will be engaged in the most up-to-date aspects of clinical care, research and advocacy.
We believe the strength of our program lies in the diversity that surrounds us, from diverse cultures, patients and diseases, to our faculty and residents from around the globe. Our division is one of the oldest child neurology programs in the country, and our hospital was one of the first free standing children’s hospitals as well, started in 1870 and serving the residents of Washington D.C. and the world for over 150 years!
Our program leadership firmly believes that residents learn best through active engagement in their learning and graduated autonomy throughout their training. This permeates the program in every aspect, from the way family-centered multidisciplinary rounds are conducted and the way we organize our four daytime inpatient neuro-hospitalist teams and one night shift resident to how we structure our outpatient curriculum, continuity clinic opportunities, mentorship and professional advisor program, and make day-to-day decisions about the curriculum and learner needs. Our job as program leadership is to provide the resources necessary to achieve your goals, support you in your educational and professional needs and provide you with leadership and guidance to obtain your career goals.
We strongly believe that the Children’s National Child Neurology Program is the best training program in the country, not because of our leadership, but because of the residents, faculty, staff and patients that are here learning from each other every day. We encourage you to read through our website and learn more about the opportunities that exist here at Children’s National and in the Washington, D.C. area and hope you consider choosing us for your child neurology education and training.
