Our certified athletic trainers work directly with the sports medicine team to provide the best quality care possible and help athletes return to the activities they love. Together they evaluate and treat a wide range of sports related injuries in the clinic, as well as develop rehabilitation plans.
Additionally, athletic trainers assist with the coordination of care outside the Fight For Children Sports Medicine Center. The athletic trainer works as a liaison to local athletic trainers helping to maintain a continuum for their athletes. Our athletic trainers support the athlete's care process by connecting local athletic trainers to expert physicians that are skilled at caring for young athletes as well as communicating with the care team about their treatment plan.
Our certified athletic trainers also help to provide event coverage for local events. They are in the community providing medical coverage at sports tournaments, recreational league events, local running events and other local sporting activities. Additionally, they provide education to young athletes and members of the community on a variety of sports medicine topics including injury prevention, both at the sports medicine center and in the community.
Within our Sports Performance and Motion Analysis Lab, athletic trainers work closely with biomechanists, engineers and other members of the sports medicine team to help young athletes meet their goals. They focus on helping athletes grow in areas related to injury prevention, return to sports after clearance from an injury and more.
