Genetics and Behavioral Research Study

The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (CASD) at Children’s National Hospital, George Washington University, Children’s National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC), and Clinical and Translational Science Institute at Children’s National (CTSI-CN) are studying the relationship between genes and key cognitive and behavioral features in youth with and without autism.

Children and young adults (ages 13-21) who are developing typically and two of their biological first degree relatives (parents and siblings) may be eligible to participate.

You will be asked to provide a genetic sample (either saliva or a cheek swab) during an in-person clinical or research visit. You and your parents will also be asked to complete some activities and questionnaires.

You will receive $10 per genetic sample, (up to $30 per family) and $40 per family for completing the activities and questionnaires. The results of this study may provide information that could help create individualized treatment and support for children and young adults in the future.
