When receiving care from our experts at Children’s National Hospital, you will visit us during pregnancy (in the prenatal period) as well as after your baby is born (postnatal visits). We’ll make sure you and your newborn have the best care possible.
Prenatal Visit
Our Prenatal Pediatrics Institute prenatal services for moms-to-be include gathering as much information as possible about your unborn baby. We interpret test results and use the information to create a comprehensive and personalized treatment plan. With our support, you’ll give your baby the best possible care that begins before they are born.
Referral Process
When your doctor refers you to our Institute, our care coordinators will reach out within 24 hours of the referral, and work closely with you and your care team to create an individualized care plan. This comprehensive approach allows us to provide multidisciplinary answers by the end of the first visit. To find out more about what we do or about how to start the referral process, email us.
Your Visit
Our Prenatal Pediatrics program offers a dedicated patient experience liaison whose role is completely focused on coordinating with you and helping alleviate some of the stress you may be experiencing. Before your appointment you will also speak with our care coordinators, who will help set up your appointments and will accompany you to your different consultations to help answer any questions you might have. For more information on our patient experience liaison and care coordinators, view our resources for families.
Consultation
After meeting with the different members of the multidisciplinary team that have been scheduled for your visit, you will meet with us to discuss your consultations and to review findings from your scans.
Postnatal Visit
Following-up with you and your baby is an important part of what we do. We know this is a busy time for you, so these resources will help you through the days after your baby is born.
