The Bear Institute for Health Innovation
The Bear Institute is a pediatric technology partnership between Children's National Hospital and Cerner that is dedicated to using health information technology to improve the quality and safety of care for children.
Who We Are
The Bear Institute is dedicated to using health information technology to improve the quality and safety of care for children. The Bear Institute formed in September 2013 as a strategic and transformational partnership between Children's National Hospital and Cerner Corporation. The institute's cross-disciplinary team of developers, architects, researchers and clinicians assume operational and administrative responsibilities for Children's National IT services, including implementations, system management and clinical adoption. The Bear Institute team also builds innovative technologies that improve patient outcomes.
At the heart of the Bear Institute is a development hub that focuses on innovation and developing the next and best health IT solution to improve the care of children. The Innovations team works on-site at Children's National, immersed in the care process to learn more about both clinicians' and patients' needs in order to create the best possible solutions.
Our Mission
Committed to improving care, the Bear Institute is a first-of-its-kind pediatric health information technology (IT) institute with a vision for a future where children grow to their highest levels of health and potential. The Bear Institute works hand-in-hand with Children's National clinicians to discover where technology can improve processes and the care of patients. This on-site relationship allows the Bear Institute to stay on the forefront of improving care.
