Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Residency Program at Children's National Hospital. Our mission is to provide world-class training to pediatric residents in a nurturing environment in order to improve child health from a local, regional, national and global perspective through clinical care, education, advocacy and research.
We offer residents unmatched opportunities to care for a diverse patient population in the nation’s capital and the surrounding area, to participate in innovative educational programs, to participate in novel research experiences, and to advocate for children’s health on a local and national level. Through family-centered, interdisciplinary, and evidence-based care, residents develop strong and compassionate clinical acumen with robust opportunities to hone their expertise as educators, researchers, and child-health advocates. Our residents graduate well-equipped to enter careers in primary care, subspecialties and a variety of careers in health policy, global health, research and advocacy.
Children's National has many distinctive features which contribute to our reputation as one of the leaders in pediatric training and the care of children. As you consider your next step in training, we encourage you to evaluate our program based on your goals, individual needs and values.
