Benefits of Aquatic Therapy
Your therapist will help set goals to work on with your child. Some general goals may include:
- Mobility (crawling, walking, reaching)
- Strength
- Endurance
- Range of motion
- Self care
- Circulation
- Confidence
What to Bring
If your child is staying at The HSC Pediatric Center, we will provide everything you need. If you are receiving outpatient services, your child should come to the appointment wearing his or her bathing suit. Also bring:
- Change of clothes
- Bath or beach towel
- Items your child likes to use in the pool, like goggles or water shoes
- Swim or waterproof diapers if your child has accidents, even if only sometimes
- Special soaps or lotions your child uses
- Bag for wet clothes
When NOT to Bring Your Child
Please do NOT bring your child to water therapy if he or she has:
- Diarrhea
- Fever or the flu
- Open sores, cuts or a rash
- Urinary tract infection
