The Children’s National Hospital Vulvar Dermatology Clinic is one of few specialty clinics in the country that specializes in skin conditions that affect the anogenital skin in children. Vulvar conditions are often misdiagnosed or improperly treated, leading to years of suffering with itch, pain, bleeding, constipation and urinary issues – not to mention embarrassment and frustration.
Our clinic streamlines care with dermatology and the pediatric gynecology program at Children’s National to address vulvar skin issues and the resulting complications. With the proper diagnosis and treatment plan, your child can overcome their condition and see an overall improvement in their quality of life.
Our Providers
Our pediatric specialists provide personalized care for your child’s physical, mental and emotional health needs.
Contact Information
To make an appointment with the Vulvar Dermatology Clinic, please email Anthony Porter, our dermatology scheduler. Our clinic is located at the main hospital in Suite 3400.
Visiting Our Clinic
At a visit to our clinic, you will first be asked by a learner (student, resident, fellow) to complete a detailed questionnaire about your child’s symptoms, past diagnoses and treatments, skin care regimen and personal and family medical history.
You and your child will then meet the pediatric dermatologist and gynecologist who will together conduct an examination of the affected area in a sensitive manner. These healthcare providers will then discuss your child’s diagnosis and management plan in detail with you.
