With that in mind, we have a variety of resources to help you and your family on your treatment journey.
Animal Visitation and Therapy Program
Children tend to gravitate to animals, which is why animal-assisted therapy is used to include animals in the goal of improving health and wellness.
Autism Visual Supports and Resources
The Autism Behavioral Communications (ABC) support team provides resources for medical staff and parents to make tests and treatments easier for children with developmental disabilities.
Case Management
Case managers are registered nurses who will work with you and your medical team to plan for your child’s hospital discharge.
Chaplaincy Services
Clinically trained on-call chaplains are available to patients, families and staff 24/7 for support, education, ritual and consultation.
Clown Care
The Clown Care team performs a parody of medical rounds for our patients, with laughter as the goal and humor as the chief treatment.
Creative and Therapeutic Arts Services
Creative and Therapeutic Arts Services help children transcend the hospital experience by bringing the cultural arts, arts education and animal visitation to patients at their bedside and in the Costco Wholesale Atrium.
Ethics Program
The Ethics Program offers education and support/consult services to faculty, staff and patients at Children’s National. Learn more about how our team helps parents, patients and providers to navigate ethical concerns and dilemmas that can present in all aspects of patient care.
Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center at Children's National Hospital offers a range of support services for families and staff including providing books and magazines for children and adults, as well as computers for Internet access.
Language Services
Interpreters are available for patients and families who may be deaf, hard of hearing or who may not speak English as their first language. This service is offered at no cost.
Mindful Mentors
Our hospital wide Mindful Mentors program has created a library of short exercises to decrease stress. These techniques will help you to calm your mind and body and find your focus again.
PANDA Palliative Care
The PANDA Palliative Care Team at Children’s National works to prevent, reduce and soothe symptoms for patients in the advanced stages of illness. Collaborating with primary care providers, we help patients with their families cope with the stress of dealing with complicated medical problems.
Parent Navigator Program
Our Parent Navigator Program informs, educates, supports and empowers families to be strong partners with providers in advocating for child’s medical, educational and social well-being.

Our council seeks to improve patient- and family-centered care for all Children’s National Hospital families.
